Companies are looking for ways to enhance productivity by increasing their resource efficiency or training them on new skills. There are different ways to do so; skillful resources who wear multiple hats are always in great demand. The challenge was to cross-train resources; It is worth investing in these kinds of practices. At Exeevo, the focus is on self-development, learnings, and innovations. We strive to bring in employees with impressive achievements and qualifications. We are also mindful that a person’s future performance will largely be determined by how intentionally and systematically they develop their skills.

Converting conventional teams into full stack almost looks like climbing a rock mountain. Resources adapted into used working styles and function as specialized experts besides their aquired skill sets, bringing them into learning mode is somehow tricky.

These challenges are very much prevalent to be dealt with determination and focus.

Obsessed with one particular technology

Extensively working and perfecting anything over a long period, getting preoccupied is very much apparent. Yet, somehow becoming rigid with this mindset learning new stuff becomes a distant dream.

First of all, changing the mindset fosters teams to take a chance even if they fail; building confidence is the first step to the transformations.

Tedious — As learning might be time-consuming and teams already working on critical tasks, it might not be easy to learn something new and experiment. Small initiatives where you begin by spending very little time could help until the interest develops; this will help increase adoption as they progress. It also requires self-discipline and regular practice.

New tools- Developers are finicky about their needs. Switching to new environments is not always great because we get habitual to old ways. New things might not be as fun as always. Finding the right tool as per their need may not be as difficult.

What can be solved when teams are full stack -

Teams that can write all pieces of code will bring more excellent value to the business relative to other team’s that can not.

Removing an external team’s dependency not only saves time but helps in making a bug-free feature.

A lot of rework can avoid because of miscommunication, which results in productivity gain when the same resource works on both front and back end pieces of code.

The training methodology we followed

Self-learning -

a) Udemy and other online courses

We purchased a package of online courses which has a good amount of training material for self-study. Resources were happy about that as they can practice at their convenient time. No doubt, this is the best way to upgrade your skills.

b) Tutorials blogs, documentations

Tons of tutorials are available over the internet one can easily find the appropriate learning material. However, we referred to the original documentation from the sources.

Internal training -

Sharing knowledge is always a great way of learning. Therefore, we arranged sessions with the in-house experts. Using the company’s internal resources can be cost-effective, informal, and improve the existing training methods and employee communication.

Outside Consultants VILT -

We internally trained the resources on writing code to build solid foundations. Before taking any external training, I suggest preparing resources to utilize the best out of these self and internal training.

What happened next?

We gave small assignments on bug fixes to the newly trained resources that can help them speed up and get overall exposure on different features, and for us, this worked very well; resources learned a lot in a short span. They grew furthermore became proficient in exerting up more significant challenges.

Strengthening employee engagement and improving productivity is often tied to personal development and learning opportunities. At Exeevo, our teams are transformed into highly productive full stack teams to deliver rich quality end-to-end features to our customers.

If you are looking to upgrade your teams as this vogue is the cornerstone of agile development that would help your teams become efficient and productive with more expeditious integrations reducing time to market.
